Thanksgiving Holiday

To celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary we decided to take a trip to the Ritz Carlton in Cancun, Mexico. Although it was Thanksgiving and late November we had temperatures in the 80's and was able to enjoy the beach and swim in the Carribbean Sea

As we checked in we admired the beautiful surrounding of the hotel lobby, especially the Christmas Trees

The view from our hotel balcony.

Dad & Sarah were first to take a dip. I did go in later and really enjoyed the warm water until a huge wave came, knocked me off my feet and I lost my glasses!!!!!

An early morning stroll along the beach before breakfast.

On Thanksgiving night we went out to a Mexican Restuarant and had a lovely meal. Sarah got 'crowned' with a sombrero and was seranaded at the table - much to her embarrasement.

Rounding off the meal with a coffee.

Father Christmas also paid a visit to the restuarant - all decked out in his Sombrero & shorts!!!!

Yes, the drinks were large - but they were lovely.

Sarah took this photo before we went out just to say Happy Anniversary mum & dad.

On our last night we dined in the Ritz and had an outstanding meal. Here is Sarah proudly showing off the Roses she and I got from the waiter. We got a lovely hand made truffle too. Gordon was quite upset - he only got the bill.

We went off to explore around and about and found this park that had a bit of everything in it from Mayan Ruins to snorkling to wild animals. We had a great day out - it was well worth the visit.

If you enlarge this picture you will see three men on top of the pole. They did an amazing display of acrobatics.

Mum & Sarah exploring the caves.

The following are a selection of Mayan Ruins

A display of tribal dancing on top of one of the ruins.

I think out of all the different things to see at the park this was one of the favourites. There were about 20 huge Turtles swimming around and coming up close to say 'hello'

Of course there were baby Turtles also.

Old Town Spring - A lovely old town with small shops in all different shapes & sizes selling anything & everything.

Bear Branch Reservoir just a mile from the house, a perfect
place for Alan and his camera.

Barrington Living History Farm
Barrington Living History Farm is a representation of the farm founded by Dr. Anson Jones, last President of the Republic of Texas. With Jones' daybook and accounts as their guide, the interpreters at Barrington Living History Farm conduct themselves much as did the earliest residents of the original farmstead, raising cotton, corn, cattle and hogs. Visitors take a step into the lives of Barrington’s earliest residents and participate in daily activities to better understand what life was like over 150 years ago.

One of the residents!!!!!

Sarah slaving away doing the washing!!!!!

Sarah getting a 'hurley' on the cool box.

Halloween

Gordon & Liz

Gordon & Liz ventured over to Houston in October and we all had a great time together. Brogan has made friends for life and can't wait for them to come back.

" I loved the pigs ears you bought me, they were nice and crunchy yum......." love Brogan xx Looks like they were in New York but no its Houston. We were at Red Robin where you get one of the best burgers in town.
Tucking in - eat up Gordon remember its bottomless fries - all the chips you can eat!!!!!!

Here we are at the China Bear - buffet and chinese art shop and below watching the Koi at the entrance to the restuarant.

Thanks Sarah for taking this picture, you did a good job. Probably the only one we managed to get with all four of us together.

A day out at the Texas Renaissance Festival. A very weird and wonderful day people watching. As you can see we were dressed normally but for the faithful attendees, they were dressed up as fairies, elves, insects and anything else weird. Check out http://www.texrenfest.com/ for pictures.

A visit to the Sam Houston Memorial was also on the cards. The one below shows Gordon & Liz at the bottom of the Statue. Its Texas so its big!!!!!!!!!

Here they enjoy a panoramic view of Downtown Houston from the J. P. Morgan Chase Building.

At the Woodlands Town Center. We never did find time to go on the boat. You will just have to come back again next year.
